The fraud continues -- I've never used Spokeo, never gave them a credit card number, yet 2 charges on my Amex this month. Card always in my possession, so not stolen. Spokeo is accepting unauthorized card numbers. Amex fraud investigators currently are on the case now through my complaint. So, Spokeo, you're not only flawed in the information you dangerously make public, you also don't care if thieves are the ones paying for it... or, possibly, you are the thieves in receipt of stolen card info? What losers.

My Debit card was charge on 3 different occasions, totaling $40.85. The company is called Spokeo. They're a web based company designed to conduct reverse lookup searches on people. They're website is www.spokeo.com Transaction as it appears on my Wells Fargo bank statement: RECURRING PAYMENT AUTHORIZED ON 04/22 SPK*SPOKEO SEARCH 800-6994264 CA S306113303286617 If you look on your bank statement, there will be random numbers that appear with the general transaction information. These random numbers aren't so random., they're actually the phone numbers connecting to Spokeo. The numbers start as 1800 (1-800) or just 800. They appear on my statement as 800-6994264, which is phone # 1-800-699-4264. I called the 800 number and connected to a recording. Press "0" immediately after the recording begins and you will quickly be connect to a live Spokeo representative that will help you with cancelling the account. The Spokeo representative you speak with will ask you a couple questions that will direct him/her to your account information. They will see detailed information regarding the activity or inactivity on the account in question. You MUST inform them this is an unauthorized charge and you want the money refunded in full or you will begin with disputing the charges with your bank. Spokeo will refund the money and send you a confirmation number immediately. If you claim these charges are unauthorized by you, the cardholder, the Spokeo representative has no other option but to refund your money. The last problem an online company wants to deal with is your banks legal department contacting them and throwing around words like "fraud" and "Better Business Bureau complaint".

In March this year, I tried to located a phone number by paying $0.95 to SPK-SPOKEO. Since then they are charging $19.95/month on my credit card without my authorization. I have written to their customer support to stop this recurrent subscription and reimburse me the amount. N. Theyencher

Authorized a $0.95 charge to 1 Phone # look up, and then hit cancel for all other subscriptions and charges. It seemed to accept the cancel submission, but then went on to charge me $19.95 the next day and another $14.95 later that month. When I tried to call to cancel and get refund, their phone # said they are in a company wide meeting and can't answer the phone. What reputable company doesn't answer their phone. Our bank is disputing the charges. If a company can't make it on their own product or service, shame on them to have to rely on deceitful practices.

I was charged 19.95 on 8/11 & 7/10 also charged .95 on7/3. I DID NOT AUTHORIZE THIS TRANSACTION. I need that money refunded. How can you people sleep at night knowin your stealing from a mother with children & recently lost my job. Right now every little penny counts when you have kids to feed. I am determined to get my money refunded. When it comes to my kids there is no stopping. I will not hesitate to have my lawyer get involved. my refund will be $40.85!!!!!

I have a $.95 charge on 6/9/14 on my debit card. Then another $19.95 on 6/13/14. This must be on the same day that I was reverse searching something that resulted in a charge from Inf FreePhone. These reverse searches are stated to be free. They indicate they have further information, which is of course not free. I do not go beyond the point of the free search, which of course provides nothing. It may be that they required a card number before starting the search. My fault for continuing. At any rate, now I have these illegitimate charge. I have contact information but have been unsuccessful thus far in contacting them.

I was charged 14.95, after canceling the subscription, with Spokeo, I canceled before the trial period expired, and they charged me, I went to my bank, and also called the company, to return my money to my account.

I also have this on my card starting in June 2013 for 2 separate charges every month of $14.95 and $19.95. I did a dispute with my bank as well and had my credit card # changed.

I did a one time phone number search for $0.95 on 7/17/13. The renewal charge of $19.95 was posted on 7/24/13. I called 877-913-3088 and also spoke to Erica. As in an earlier post, she was very friendly and helpful. She explained that buried in the charge acknowledgement notice is an explanation of the trial period of 7 days. If the membership isn't cancelled within the 7 days, it is automatically renewed. She did, however, submit my request for reimbursement to the accounting dept. We'll see if it goes through. In the meantime, I will contact my credit card to dispute this charge.

I was charged 14.95 on my debit card showed pending 7.30/13. I called the number fore mentioned 1-877-913-3088, spoke with Erica. All I needed to provide was the last 4 numbers of the CC it is showing on and my last name. ERICA WAS VERY HELPFUL! This is an address people search site. It is billed quarterly automatically unless you cancel. My husband has been thinking it was a magazine subscription renewal. They are crediting me back the $14.95 within 3 days and since I don't recall signing up for it they will send me a REFUND DISPUTE via email and I am to respond immediately. It will go to the REFUND DISPUTE DEPT. I am hoping I will be credited back all or most of the last year of quarterly billings of $14.95. I am hoping this goes as smooth as it is supposed to! If not I will be back on here with another report for you! I hope this helps many who fall into this same aggravating and frustrating boat!

It's ridiculous. Apparently it's if you've ever tried to look up a phone number online. You pay 99 cents but then if you don't cancel your free trial in 7 days then you get charged monthly. You can call this number... 1-877-913-3088 Good luck!

Is there any way to stop this company? Because this is just too much, I mean If they have done this to us what more in the future happenings. In my situation, I just called my bank and they said I have to wait for the final amount to go through because right now the charge was still pending and after the final amount has submitted then I can file a claim, but this is not what I wanna do! I wanna do more, file a complaint and sue whoever are behind this crap.
