I am a disabled Vet, last night I went on the Hotels.com website where I got a number 800-491-9657 called and thought I made a reservation for a hotel in Birmingham, AL where I am to have heart surgery on Dec 30. Never rec'd a confirmation email, however they did take the $281.88 from my bank account under Travel Reservations USA, so I called back and was told that I had cancelled the reservation and would get a refund in 7-10 days. Never cancelled...called the hotel directly and was told that there was never a reservation or a cancellation for me. Called them back and was put on perpetual hold, spent 3 hours being switched from person to person and then hung up on twice. Called Hotel.com and was told they knew nothing about the charges Called my bank this morning and was given this number 1-800-367-3476 which they have as the number associated with the charges. When we called that number they answer "Expedia.com". Was told by them that they knew nothing about the charges, that Travel Reservations USA was not them. Guy wanted to know why we thought that the charges were from them and I told him that our bank gave us the number, he hung up. I am working with my bank to try to get my money back, but in the mean time, I have no money to get a room for my wife while I am in the hospital and see no way of getting it back in time to book another room. Guess my wife will be sleeping in the car. Apparently they are using these websites to scam people out of their money. I told the guy when I was making the reservations that I was a disabled Vet and would need a handicap room on ground floor, so he knew he was scamming a Veteran. How low can a human stoop??? I suggest that if you want a room, call the hotel directly and never use any of these travel websites.
